Lemongrass Soda Punch

When the day gets insanely scorching hot, and you are beaten down by the heat, what you really need is an icy cool beverage that will keeps you going. Seriously, it is like desert here every day, but if I had a jar of Lemongrass Soda Punch in the fridge, I know I’ll feel better. I made this drink last party, and all my friends loved it. As well of having fresh citrus taste, which is a perfect companion for oily party food; the soda in the punch really gives you instant cool down when serve it with ice-cube.

What you’ll need:

  • 1 cup of lemongrass water,
  • 2 cups of ice cream soda,
  • juice of half a large lemon,
  • 3 tbsp of rum(optional)

For this punch, it’s just simply mixing everything in a jar, but I’ll explain the lemongrass water. Boil two stick of lemongrass and one lemon slice in 2 cups of water for 20 minutes, this is to infuse the flavor into the water. Pour everything into a bowl, don’t throw away the lemongrass and lemon, and let it chilled in the fridge for couple of hours or overnight. Strain before used.

I didn’t add any sugar in lemongrass water, simply because the ice cream soda is sweet enough. If you use soda water, then just make it a lemongrass syrup. I’d tried the pandan variation before, but I preferred this one with scent of lemongrass, very refreshing. Skew a few blueberries on toothpick as garnish to make a perfect party drink.
